Plans by Fabrix for the high quality, sustainable redevelopment of 182-202 Walworth Road received unanimous planning consent from the LB Southwark in November 2024. A huge thank you to the many people – local residents and community groups – who took the time to meet with us and share their views on our plans as they developed. The project would not be what it is without their input.
We are now full steam ahead to bring this prominent site back to life, with a Registered Provider now also on board to manage the affordable homes.
The consented, all-electric scheme will repurpose much of the existing building and bring a mix of new uses, with key benefits for the local community and natural environment.
The team is on track to start work on site, with Spring 2026 targeted and a two-year construction programme anticipated.
Before construction starts, we are consulting on some minor changes to the building on Amelia Street that houses the affordable homes prompted by recent changes to building regulations in relation to fire safety. The proposal is to improve both its design and its impact on neighbouring properties by reducing it in height by one storey and increasing the proportion of family-sized homes.
We have now submitted our Section 73 application for these minor changes to Southwark Council for consideration. The application can be viewed on the Council’s planning portal, using the validation reference: 25/AP/2547.
