Chatelain House is an ideal location for much-needed student accommodation in Southwark. The site is within easy reach of several major universities such as King’s College London; University of the Arts London; and London South Bank University.
There is currently a shortfall of 55,613 student beds in Southwark and this is set to rise with the number of full-time students in Southwark expected to reach 87,000 by 2026.
In direct response to this, our developing proposals include 283 new student rooms which will help to free up traditional housing for use by families in the borough. 10% of the rooms will also be wheelchair-accessible or easily adaptable.
The incorporation of a mix of uses, alongside student accommodation has been thoughtfully considered to encourage students to actively partake in and contribute to the local community and economy.
The proposed mix of cluster apartments and studios, along with the student amenity spaces that have been deliberately arranged throughout the building, will help to animate the facades of the building, breaking up the regularity of the student bedroom windows.
